There are times when writing a piece of news is a pretty sad affair… like the times when we have to say goodbye to a company. This is the case of Viliv, that’s rumored to close up shop and exit the portable device market.
This happens just as the UMPC and MID maker was starting to promote a few tablets of its own, shown at CES 2011. Sources who talked to UMPC Portal made claims about the company’s demise and a hint in the same direction is the lack of the company’s representatives from Computex in June. Also, as the guys of Engadget tried to contact Viliv’s PR, the emails bounced back.
This is the price that smaller companies have to pay when giants such as Samsung and Apple rule the tablet segment…
