Computex is in full swing these days and quite a few tablets have come out of it. Microsoft couldn’t stay away and they’re gracing us with a Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra, that adopts the brand new NVIDIA RTX Spark. This is a brand new ARM CPU, a heavy hitter I may add.

Microsoft’s newcomer is a 15 incher with a Mini LED PixelSense Ultra touchscreen, that delivers a peak HDR brightness of 2000 nits. Microsoft claims this it the brightest display they’ve ever put on a Surface. It also has a record breaking size for a trackpad on a Surface. As far as connectivity is concerned, the machine sports HDMI, USB-C, USB-A, an SD card slot and an audio jack.

There’s also the powerful new CPU RTX Spark, together with up to 128 GB of unified memory. Microsoft is even updating Windows to handle it better. They’re basically raising the memory ceiling available to the GPU, so you can load a larger local AI model onto it. Microsoft is also improving the memory page size handle on Windows on unified memory systems.

Thermal-wise, NVIDIA and MS deliver the new Microsoft Power and Thermal Framework (MPTF), desgined to deliver improved performance per watt and keep the machine cool even when working hard. Then there’s the ARM thing: the likes of Photoshop and Premiere run natively on ARM and have been optimized for RTX Spark. Gaming is… almost there, but League of Legends, Valorant and PUBG are here.

The device comes in Platinum and Nightfall and it doesn’t have a price just yet. Odds are it won’t be cheap.
