After 6 long months since its announcement, the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet has been priced and given a launch date. The product will debut in the US and Canada on April 19, in 3 versions: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Prices start from $499 for the 7 inch QNX-based slate. The price is pretty good and it certainly matches the iPad 2.

Actually for an enterprise/corporate product, the PlayBook is pretty cheap and if you want more storage, you’ll pay $599 for the 32GB version and $699 for the 64GB one. Initially we won’t be seeing 3G and 4G models, but they will follow later this year. A short reminder of what the PlayBook is all about: 1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, a dual core 1GHz processor and 1080p HD output.

QNX OS is the platform of choice and the device is a multitasking wizard.
