We’re no stranger to leaks regarding the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5, but today brings us a tentative launch date and some info about its software. We’ve already had the device’s existence confirmed by several Xiaomi officials, even though Xiaomi hasn’t put out a tablet in years now.
Redmi Product Director, Wang Teng teased a debut after the college entrance examination. Since that has already been announced, it’s now time for the Mi Pad 5’s debut. According to a new report, Xiaomi will hold a big event in August, where they’ll unveil the Mi Pad 5. The product will come in 3 versions: Xiaomi Mi Pad 5, Mi Pad 5 Pro and Mi Pad 5 Pro+. Initial reports talked about a Snapdragon 888 processor inside, but it seems we’ll end up with a Snapdragon 870 after all.
That’s not exactly bad news, since the potent CPU can already be found on the high performing Vivo X60 Pro, Moto G100 and POCO F3. We also learn that the device will have 5G connectivity and it should come with a 2560 x 1600 pixel screen with 120 Hz refresh rate. A very narrow bezel panel will be used and the selfie camera will be cut in the screen. MIUI is expected to be forked into a new version for tablets, just like Apple did with iOS and iPadOS and Huawei with HarmonyOS, tweaking it for the MatePads.
