We’re going to have to pay a lot of attention to what Chinese tablet makes are doing this year. Between the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 rumors and now the Huawei MatePad Pro 2 ones, we seem to be headed to a whole new UI, that copies iPadOS. Let’ see the latest MatePad Pro 2 leak in the meantime.

Word on the street is that the future Huawei flagship tablet may not even come with Android on board, opting instead for HarmonyOS. Today a prolific Weibo blogger revealed that the device also known as MatePad Pro 2021 will run the new OS using an UI design seen in a previous patent. This means it could feature a double dock bar design and an overall simple, clean and intuitive interface. The dock bar is basically the Windows taskbar or maybe the Mac one, which integrates the commonly used apps and folder shortcuts.

A split bar could mean we’re getting a segment for media apps and another one for productivity of games maybe. The MatePad Pro 2 is rumored to feature a Kirin 9000 series processor, a 12.2 inch or 12.6 inch screen and it should continue in the same line with its predecessor, as far as design is concerned. We expect a glass and metal design, wireless charging, punch hole selfie camera, maybe a LiDAR clone at the back and 8 GB of RAM, plus a large battery, maybe even past 10.000 mAh.

The M Pencil is a must have, as well as a keyboard. I’m curious to see if Huawei also clones the Apple Magic Keyboard.
