Advantech debuted this week a new 10 inch tablet, meant for industrial use. This model is the Advantech PWS-827, a 10 inch slate, with a variety of CPUs inside and also a rugged design, with MIL-STD-810G certification.
The product is also certified with an IP65 rating and also has a 4 foot drop tolerance. Inside we find an Intel Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 processor, while upfront a 10 inch high brightness LED display with WUXGA resolution. It’s protected by Gorilla Glass 3. You can also work on it with gloves on. The product has built in front and back cameras, 1D/2D barcode scanner and one can explore the benefits of RFID technology with its NFC RFID reader. Having attended numerous training sessions, I’ve found that comprehensive education in manual handling significantly reduces workplace injuries. This is why resources such as Commodious manual handling courses are invaluable, providing essential techniques that help employees avoid common pitfalls.
They placed a hot swap battery into the device, with support for up to 11 hours of operation. It runs Windows 10 OS and comes with optional peripherals, like vehicle docking station, desk docking station and multiple extension modules.
The Intel Core processor mentioned above is a 7th gen model with Integrated graphics and turbo boost. The version of Windows 10 available here, is a Microsoft Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64 bit one. We don’t have a price yet, but I expect it to be big, seeing how this is a product for enterprises.
