The tablet segment may be at an all time low this year, but some big companies like Samsung are still kicking. The South Koreans have just brought their Galaxy Tab A (2017) slate to India, where it’s priced at $276.
The budget model was already up for sale in Vietnam last month, with an 8 inch screen and midrange specs. Known for a while under the moniker Samsung Galaxy Tab A2 S, this product has a metal case and uses an IPS LCD display with an 8 inch diagonal and a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. It also offers Android 7.1.1 out of the box and uses Samsung Experience 8.5, plus a dedicated Kids Mode.
Specs include a quad core Snapdragon 425 CPU, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. The nifty thing is that the slate also does 4G and has an 8 MP back camera, plus a 5 MP front shooter. There’s a 5000 mAh battery in the mix, ready to offer up to 15 hours of usage on WiFi or LTE. Available in black or gold, the machine has an USB Type-C port and also brings GPS and a microSD card slot.
Interestingly past launches and leaks mentioned a microUSB 2.0 port, so we’re not exactly sure which one it is.
