Apple is being said to adopt an OLED screen for the 2017 generation of iPhone and they’ve been getting cozy with organic LED tech for a while now, so it may also reach some other products in their portofolio. For example some spyshots of the 2016 MacBook Pro seem to hint at the integration of an OLED touchpad.
The folks of Cult of Mac managed to get a hold of those pics, which also seem to show off 4 USB Type C connectors. That all pairs well with a recent report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said that Apple will integrate an OLED touchpad on the MacBook Pro lineup in Q3 this year. The laptop is also said to adopt a slimmer form factor, plus the brand new Apple “butterfly” keys.
The pictures shown here are supposed to come from an anonymous source, that works for one of Apple’s manufacturing partners in China. It also reveals a cutout above the MacBook Pro’s keyboard, where the function keys would be and that cutout could host the OLED touchpad. The advantage of such a feature includes being able to customize function keys to swap out shortcuts you don’t need with ones you will.
Supposed speaker grilles are also pictured, hinting that Apple may move the speakers to make extra room for an OLED touch pad. Current models have the speakers at the back of the keyboard.
