Verizon wants to offer customers with less cash in the pocket a more affordable tablet option, so that’s why it debuted the Ellipsis 8 slate, that you can see below. This model packs an 8.1 inch display and it doesn’t look that bad.

Ellipsis 8 has an 8.1 inch 1280 x 800 pixel screen, a 1.5 GHz quad core processor and a 5000 mAh battery. There’s a 5 megapixel back camera, LTE connectivity and Android 4.4 KitKat on board as the OS. The product goes for $150 with a data plan, or $250 if purchased with no commitment. The price is below the iPad Air or a Galaxy Tab S clearly, but if you really look closely, you’ll find better options.

The device is XLTE-ready and it’s quite compact, as shown here. Users will also be able to add the slate to their existing MORE Everything accounts, for an extra $10 monthly access fee. I’m really curious who makes the device for Verizon and it’s most likely a Chinese or Indian partner… Maybe Huawei?
