IFA 2014 may be over, but there are still interesting things to discover from the Berlin-based event. It included a few local products, like the new i-Onik tablets, that were handled by the folks of Mobilegeeks, as shown in the hands on below.
These are slates based on the Intel Bay Trail platform. The higher end model shown at the Intel booth is a 9.7 inch tablet, that has a similar aspect ratio and resolution as the one of an iPad, which is 1536 x 2048. It features an aluminum case, IPS LCD screen and Android 4.4 as the OS. This model relies on an Intel Atom Z3745, based on the Bay Trail architecture and using four cores clocked at 1.3 GHz, as well as 2 GB of RAM.
There’s a 5 megapixel rear camera in the mix, a 2 MP front shooter and a microSD card slot, as well as dual stereo speakers. i-Onik also had on show a more budget model, with Android 4.4 and the same Intel Atom Z3745 chipset, but with a larger 10.1 inch IPS display, with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. There’s 1 GB of RAM inside and the product is aimed at media consumption, also sporting stereo speakers.
No idea what the prices will be.
