A source close to Amazon has revealed that the Kindle Paperwhite 3 will use a new screen technology, making the e-reader lighter than the previous models. It will also make it have a higher resolution and include a flexible display.

The Kindle PaperWhite 3 will use technology that was developed by E Ink and Sony and it’s called Mobius. Mobius relies on TFT tech, that enables the development of lighter and rugged products. The Mobius displays can weigh less than 50% of an equivalent glass TFT screen and that’s important for larger display panels. Up until now, this technology has been used on the Sony 13.3 inch e-reader, one of the lightest devices in the segment of e-readers.

The 13.3 inch also looks good and you should know that the E Ink Mobius e-Paper can be cut to a customer’s requirements, while keeping the long battery life, the decreased weight and high resolution. This means that the new Kindle Paperwhite 3 will get all the advantages of the Sony 13.3 inch e-reader, but in a smaller 6 inch package.
