The Nexus 7 2013 edition has arrived at Tablet-News.com for testing purposes and this is the device that Google and ASUS launched in July, in case you’re wondering. It’s priced at $229 and we’re unboxing it below.
The device measures 8.65 mm in thickness, which is 2 mm thinner than the 2012 Nexus 7. The slate is also lighter, at 290 grams, which is 50 grams less than Nexus 7. Nexus 7 2013 has a thin bezel and integrates a 7 inch IPS 16:9 screen with a 1920 x 1200 pixel display. Inside the box we’ve got tiny manuals, a USB cable and charger.
Inside the tablet we find a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5 GHz processor, with Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. There’s a 5 MP camera at the back without flash and a front 1.2 MP shooter. We’ve got Full HD video capture support for that camera at the back and I noticed some nifty speakers around the edges of the slate.
This device runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and packs a 3950 mAh battery, a lower capacity unit than the 4325 mAh unit from the last year Nexus 7. We’ll be back with a full review ASAP.
