The idea of a tablet for the kitchen isn’t new and we’ve seen the iPad and many other models being put to use near the oven. Sony has launched the Xperia Tablet Z: Kitchen Edition as a kitchen companion.
The price is $650, the device runs Android and the extra here is an accessory: digital meat thermometer. The regular price of the tablet is $500, so this product is $150 more expensive. The bundle includes here a few cooking apps with recipes and videos, a folding stand and the thermometer mentioned before.
The tablet is waterproofed, so no problem here if you intend to splash it with ingredients. The meat thermometer here features Bluetooth, lets you monitor the temperature of your food from the slate, even if you’re many meters away from the oven. The rest of the specs stay the same, including a 1200p 10.1 inch display, Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 2 GB of ram, 32 GB of storage, Android 4.1 and a battery with 10 hours of functioning time.
