Acer may reach an impressive number of tablets shipped this year, since according to a recent report they’re predicted to ship a total of 10 million tablets in 2013. This includes a combo between Android and Windows tablets, with the Android side being the bigger one of the two groups.
If that number is reached, it would mean Acer has grown 400% year on year. The information was published in a recent Digitimes report, that claims that due to strong demand for entry level tablets such figures are to be expected. The Acer Iconia B1 will be the driving force behind this sales, if you ask me. It has even managed to undermine the Nexus 7, by including a few welcome extras like GPS and microSD card slot, plus a very good price tag.
If you break the 10 million tablets up, you’ll see that Acer will be shipping 7 million Android and 3 million Windows tablets. It was also said that Acer will be shipping about 200k to 300k of the Iconia B1-A71 tablets on a monthly basis. The B1-A71 is the Iconia tablet introduced in early January and it’s selling for $150, that offers you a 7 inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, a dual core 1.2 GHz CPU and 8 GB of storage.
