This weekend the Microsoft Surface Windows 8 Pro just debuted, launching in stores across the States. It received not exactly stellar reviews before the launch, each and every one of them criticizing the low battery life, among others. The device starts at $899, a full $500 more than the Microsoft surface RT, so it’s quite a few pennies extra to spend.
The device weighs 2.01 pounds, so it’s quite heavy, but not exactly reaching ultrabook level. It runs Windows 8 Pro on top of an Intel Core i5-3371U processor at 1.7 GHz, with 4 GB of RAM installed. There’s also 64 GB of SSD storage on board, or 128 GB if you opt for the 128 GB version of the slate. Its screen has the same 10.6 inch diagonal as the RT version, but ups the resolution to 1920 x 1080 pixels.
There’s also an USB 3.0 port on board, a mini DisplayPort, a microSDXC slot and wireless connectivity (WiFi, Bluetooth). Reviewers also criticized, aside from the battery the little storage on the device, that in the 64 GB flavour actually offers a bit over 20 GB to store stuff.
