Acer is not the first name that comes to mind when you try to get excited for 2013 launches. We have other companies in mind, like Nokia and its first tablet, maybe HTC and certainly Samsung. However, this doesn’t stop Acer from working in the background and preparing for the release of a brand new Jelly Bean device.

We’re talking of the freshly leaked Acer Iconia B1, that’s portrayed in the images in this article. It has a 7 inch touchscreen, runs Android 4.1 and supports a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. It uses a MediaTek dual core 1.2 GHz processor with PowerVR SGX531 graphics and 512 MB of RAM. There are also 8 GB of storage on board, a microSD card slot, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, even mobile data. The slate doesn’t look that bad, I have to say and there’s a slight vibe of e-reader that radiates from it.

All the info about the device stems from an FCC filing, a benchmark result and a rumor originating at a Serbian forum. As usual we advise you to take everything with a grain of salt, even the rumored price of $100 to $150. The part with 512 MB of RAM is the only underwhelming bit here… but the iPad Mini also has that amount, right?
