With the Surface with Windows RT out for over a month now, it’s time to prepare for the release of the Windows 8 Pro version of the tablet and today we learn some prices for the upcoming product. The information comes straight from Panos Panay, general manager of Microsoft Surface.
Surface with Windows 8 Pro will be available in January 2013 and the pricing starts at $899. There will be two versions of the product, a 64 GB standalone one at $899 and a 128 GB one at $999. Both versions include a Surface pen with Palm Block technology and offer the ability to use a Touch Cover or Type Cover. The Surface with Windows 8 Pro keeps the same elegant design principles of the Surface RT and adopts that Dark Titanium VaporMg casing, dual 2×2 MIMO antennas and there’s also the famous kickstand at the back.
The major changes are happening on the inside, where instead of the quad core Tegra 3 we find the Intel Core i5 processor, that will give Surface with Windows 8 Pro a graphics boost. The tablet also comes with a 10.6 inch 16:9 ClearType display, supporting a 1080p resolution, so it’s superior to the screen on the Surface RT. Pen input is also here, as well as a full size USB 3.0 port. It’s important to know that this tablet will run all the current Windows 7 desktop apps, being a full PC and tablet.
