Although Steve Jobs was very much against lower diagonal tablets, it appears that Apple is actually working on such a device. The Wall Street Journal is saying that Apple has been showing suppliers designs for a smaller slate.
This one features an 8 inch display and before you get too excited, know that this is a mere prototype and it’s not sure that it will make it to production. Knowing Apple as well as I do, I wouldn’t be surprised if they also tested 5 inch and 7 inch tablets as well. The same WSJ piece says that the 8 inch tablet will have the same resolution as the iPad 2, 1024 x 768 pixels.
Many have speculated on that iPad Mini that some want in their trendy bags and many see it as a response to the Amazon Kindle Fire, that’s a small form factor priced very well. Let’s see if the priced well part applies this time.
