ASUS intends to launch its first 8 inch Windows tablet soon, if some speculations and leaks from people in the know are to be believed. They want to offer a rival for the recently launched successful models from the likes of Dell, Acer and Toshiba. Their newcomer is dubbed ASUS Vivotab Note 8 and it will be an 8 incher model with a stylus.
It will have a Bay Trail CPU at the core, support for pen input and a very good price tag of $299. This matches the Dell Venue 8 Pro offer and makes it a solid rival for that product. ASUS already has a good deal on a Windows tablet, the Transformer Book T100, that sells for $399 and incorporates a 10 inch display.
The cool thing is that the T100 model also includes a keyboard dock and I wonder if the same will happen to the Note 8. The 8 incher is codenamed M80TA that has been discovered in the wild with an active digitizer and support for pen input for writing or drawing. Retail stores are already listing specs for this model, that include 2 GB of RAM, up to 64 GB storage, Office 2013 Home & Student, a 15 Whr battery, stereo speakers, GPS and a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution.
