We were surprised to see that Apple didn’t decide to launch the iPad Pro 2019 during the early September event dedicated to the iPhone 11. Turns out there’s another event happening in October, one meant for a new MacBook and a new iPad Pro or two. In the meantime we have a fresh leak of the 2019 iPad Pro, complete with a square camera and 3 sensors.
Famous Apple leakster Sonny Dickson published a video of the iPad Pro 2019 realistic mockup, in video and picture format. It’s supposed to be a 12.9 incher with a triple back camera taken from the iPhone 11 Pro. The front side looks very much like the existing iPad Pros from last year. They even keep the same bezels, dimensions and True Depth camera system.
The thickness will also stay the same as last year. The source compared each side of the iPad Pro and no changes were found. At the bottom there are dual speakers that flank an USB-C port, while the top side has a second set of speakers, plus a microphone and a sleep/wake button. There’s also a 2nd gen Apple Pencil charger on the right side, where the volume rocker is also placed.
The camera bump is quite visible and the Apple Logo stays centered. We have a Smart Connector at the bottom. If the camera is real, it would include a wide camera, ultra wide and telephoto cam. Interestingly, the new square camera has two microphones, while the existing iPad Pro camera has a single microphone below it. It could just be the fault of the mockup, though…
We expect the Apple A13X CPU inside, plenty of RAM (or not plenty, since Apple doesn’t focus on that). The iPad Pro may go 5G in 2021 alone, not 2020, according to Ming Chi Kuo…
