The ZTE Axon M foldable phone has leaked once before, but today it gets a bit closer to its official unveiling, thanks to an FCC certification. The device has been certified and it’s going to be announced on October 17th. We have details below.
This device is supposed to open up like a book and it has a hinge in the middle, that connects the two parts. Codenamed Z999, this foldable phone has been certified by the FCC and it comes with Bluetooth, WiFi a/b/g/n dual band and NFC. There’s also carrier aggregation, LTE-Advanced and VoLTE. The documents also mention a foldable case and the when opening it the device is about 150 mm in length and 140 mm in width.
There’s an AT&T Mobility label here and the OS of choice is Android 7.1.2 Nougat. ZTE Axon M is going to be one of the few mainstream devices that has some degree of flexibility, or better said foldability. You will open and close it up, using a hinge that connects both screens. It should end up pretty beefy, dangerously closer to a Nintendo DS, rather than the Samsung Galaxy X.
I guess we’ll learn more next week, when the device debuts. I’m expecting to be pleasantly surprised for some reason.
