Xiaomi’s big event took place today and as expected (and teased) it brought us the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 tablet. The device is just as rumored, a 7.9 incher with an iPad-like allure and some very appealing price tag options.
It’s been more than a year since the first Mi Pad debuted and this newcomer brings a 6.95 mm thick chassis, plus a 7.9 inch screen with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. Inside we find the Intel Atom X5-8500 CPU, a quad core unit clocked at 2.2 GHz and accompanied by 2 GB of RAM. There’s also a 6190 mAh battery in the mix, with fast charging, a main 8 megapixel camera and a front 5 MP shooter.
Xiaomi integrated here an USB Type C port, WiFi and a special blue light filter, that makes e-reading easier on the eyes. The Mi Pad 2 weighs 320 grams and it resembles the iPad Mini 4 in format. The best part about it is that the slate can be purchased either with Android 5.1 Lollipop or Windows 10. The 16 GB Android 5.1 model goes for $156, while the 64 GB one with Android gets to $203. Also $203 is the Windows 10 + 64 GB unit.
