For a while there Black Shark seemed to be gone and a few gaming brands from the mobile world have left us. ASUS is no longer making phones, RAZER withdrew after a few gaming phones and Black Shark seemed to be gone too. Now it’s back, with Xiaomi also attached to it.

Black Shark has a weird history, it started off as a gaming startup with the financing of Xiaomi. But then everytime I wrote an article about “Xiaomi Black Shark”, I got a phone call to take down the name Xiaomi, as Black Shark was a separate entity. Anyway, now they’re back with a brand new Black Shark tablet, perhaps capitalizing on the trend of gaming tablets.

After all, Lenovo has been doing for years and Nubia too, and it’s working for them. The latest device from Black Shark is called Black Shark Gaming Tablet and it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, which is not exactly the latest CPU model. It’s about 2 years old already. Still, decent to run all the MMO, MOBA and FPS out there.

The tablet doesn’t have active cooling, but you can attach to it a magnetic cooler. There are 12 gigs of RAM on board, plus 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There’s also an 8.8 inch screen, with 144 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 600 cd/m2. Finally, a 7300 mAh battery also makes the cut, plus a 13 MP main cam and a 5 MP front shooter.

Then there’s a 25.176 mm square thermal area and Wi-Fi 6, plus Bluetooth 5.4 and DisplayPort output with support for 4K video. The above mentioned battery is rated for up to 5.6 hours of gaming, 10.3 hours of web browsing and 7 hours of video playback. Or up to 76 hours of music playback.

No price yet, but it’s definitely not something hefty. Details are found here.
