We all know that Windows 7 is not the ideal OS for tablets, much like Android 2.2 wasn’t good enough for such devices, so Microsoft should come up with something revolutionary if they want to compete with iOS and Honeycomb. There’s a Business Insider report floating around claiming that MS plans to launch Windows 8, an OS specifically created for tablets, but we’ll learn more about that after the break.

Everyone was excited when they heard about this platform, provided that it’s more than speculations and smoke. Apparently there’s even a premiere showcasing scheduled for this summer and Win 8 could be seen in action on slates as early as June. It’s presumed that this tablet-oriented OS uses the Metro UI on WP7 as inspiration, plus some design elements from Apple.

We’re still dreaming about a port of WP7 on tablets, but maybe Win 8 will be even greater…
