With the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer being the hit that it is, it was only a matter a time till a follow-up entered our radars. Now, we learn from Notebook Italia, that ASUS has set its eyes on Windows 8 as the platform of choice for the next Eee Pad Transformer model.
This new model will come in 2012, accompanied by a follow-up to the Android version that took off in April. Both newcomers will be thinner and lighter than the original unit and sources say the new Eee Pad Transformer in the Android flavor will cost $399 again, like the first 16GB model, making it a hit. Of course, because of licensing, the Win 8 version will be more expensive…
With the ability of an optional keyboard and a trackpad dock plus the tiles of Windows 8 in the same package, nothing will stop this ASUS piece of machinery from taking on the iPad 3 in full speed. However, under that touch interface, there’s still Windows and you must remember that.
