The past week has been filled with Apple iPad Pro (2018) rumors, but there are even more products expected to appear during the October 30 event. We analyzed all our sources and did a fast roundup below. Let’s check it out.
Firs of all we expect an iPad Pro (2018) with two diagonal sizes: 11 inch and 12.9 inch, plus USB Type-C ports. They should have metal bodies, Face ID, a custom GPU apparently and quite a bit of RAM. Quad speakers and a new stylus may also be in the cards, plus new accessories, like a protective cover. An “edge to edge” display has also been mentioned by Bloomberg sources.
It would be very odd to see Apple moving to USB Type-C, but not exactly unheard of, since it would still be a modern reversible port. There will be no more Home button for sure. Then we also expect a new MacBook Air, which has been long overdue. It should get a higher res screen, new CPU, more RAM, newer ports. The 13 inch screen seems like a sure bet, too. Even the Mac Mini gets some love this time around, for the first time ever since 2014.
Bloomberg also mentions new CPUs and other features for pro users. There are also updated iMacs and iMac Pros ready for prime time, as well as a CPU bump for the 12 inch MacBook. The updated Apple Pencil is also overdue, since its release in 2015. It’s not very clear what features it’ll bring but one of them probably has to do with new ways of charging, to avoid the ridiculous way of placing it at the bottom of the tablet.
All in all it should be an interesting event for a otherwise waning segment, that surely needs a boost.
