Verizon made the Ellipsis tablet brand official today, after a leak last week, courtesy of @evleaks. We are dealing with a 7 inch Android slate, with 4G LTE connectivity and a front facing camera for videocalls.

This is Verizon’s first very own tablet with its own branding on top of it. Up until now they’ve been selling Apple, Samsung and LG slates, to name just a few. Verizon Ellipsis 7 will compete with the Nexus 7 directly, apparently, although don’t expect the specs to be quite on par. The device packs a quad core 1.2 GHz CPU, a 720p display res on an IPS LCD panel and a 4000 mAh battery.

The slate runs Android 4.2.2 and if you can forgive my skepticism, I have a feeling it’s filled with bloatware. Other specs include a microSD card slot, 8 GB of storage and two front facing speakers, both of them near the Verizon logo to the left and right. The price tag is $249, but Verizon could sell it for $100 less through a special hot deal with a 2 year data plan.
