There’s a fresh Velocity Micro tablet in town, the Cruz T408 that’s available for pre-order right now via Amazon.com. Priced at a mere $240, the 8 inch slate comes with a capacitive touch display, 4GB of internal memory and a 1GB Samsung CPU.

Considering this price, it was predictable that this is not a Honeycomb model, but rather an Android 2.3 Gingerbread one instead. The device relies on a 3400 mAh 12.6 Whr battery and it comes with Amazon Appstore preloaded instead of Android Market. Considering the Amazon Kindle Tablet will have the same price and aim at competing with the iPad 2, maybe it would be safe to save the money for the Amazon product.

I must also mention that this device supports an underwhelming 800 x 600 resolution, comes with 512MB of RAM and WiFi. There are many smartphones with half the price (on contract) and two times the specs that are more appealing frankly… Well maybe the Velocity Micro Cruz T410 with a 10 inch display will be more appealing…
