UK carrier EE has just announced a brand new tablet called Jay and the device is quite modest in specs, but it has a pretty fair price. This is the type of gadget that can serve its purpose well as a secondary device or a home tablet for the family.
Jay comes with a 7.85 inch 1024 x 768 pixel display, plus a quad core 1.06 GHz 64 bit MediaTek CPU, accompanied by 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. It also brings a microSD card slot, a 5 megapixel main camera and a front 2 MP shooter. The slate also packs a 3600 mAh battery, that should provide 7 hours of full usage.
The OS of choice here is Android 5.1 Lollipop and we have no idea if there’s an upgrade to Marshmallow planned or not. Of course, there’s 4G LTE connectivity via EE and the product weighs 350 grams, so it’s pretty light to carry around. Jay has been available since May 11th, with a pay as you go option and a price of 119 GBP. New subscribers pay 16 pounds per month with a 30 quid upfront pay.
Current subscribers get a 10% discount on the monthly fee and there’s no upfront pay for them.
