If I’m not mistaking, Thomson is a TV maker, among other gadgets and now they’re entering the tablet market, thanks to the IFA 2013 show. The new series of slates will be called TO and it will include Android models.

They will be quad core units, showcased in Berlin next week. The name TO was actually used before, for the company’s PCs back in the 1980s. Aside from using Android and quad core processors, the newcomers will also incorporate IPS screens and will offer access to Google Play. You should know that Thomson is a French electronic maker, so they will be battling Archos, also from France.

Since Thomson is sort of a giant, I think they will rather make their own tablets rather than rebrand them from Chinese companies, which is always a plus, if you ask me. What other French brands will see entering the tablet biz? I wonder…
