TCL doesn’t only make BlackBerry phones, but also home tablets, like the freshly unveiled XESS Tablet. This model is up for sale on Amazon for $499 and it’s a 17.3 inch Android device, with connected-hub functionality. The XESS has a network camera, that can be used to check on the kids and pets when you’re away.
It’s also excellent for wannabe cooks, since it comes preloaded with a kitchen recipe app, that offers recipes and videos related to them. XESS tablet has Amazon’s Alexa enabled out of the box, meaning it can control smart home devices, smart lights, tell you the weather, sports scores and respond to questions about the world, general knowledge and all that.
TCL XESS should also be able to recognize gestures, for hands free interaction, or at least it was capable of that in prototype phase, but the official product page doesn’t mention them anymore. Specs include a 1.5 GHz octa core AMD CPU, 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The slate weighs 6 pounds and the 17.3 inch screen has a Full HD res. Not a bad bundle in the end.
The device is up for sale here.
