Microsoft is expected to ship its new Surface tablet generation with a Power Cover accessory. We’re talking about the Surface Pro 2 and the Surface 2 tablets here, as we approach a potential release of the new devices.
The new accessory will offer a Type Cover-style experience and it will enhance the battery of compatible devices. Over the past days we’ve heard rumors twice about the new Surface slate, so something’s coming. The Power Cover will work with the Surface Pro, Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2, but not the original Surface RT.
The Power Cover will incorporate the same type of keyboard as the original Type Cover, which is a real keyboard and not a Touch Cover style unit. The device will charge as the Surface is charging and the battery life is expected to vary from one device to the other. Finally, the accessory will weigh 520 grams, which is about double compared to the current generation Type Cover.
