Microsoft’s Smart Covers have become a trademark accessory for the new flagship tablets, but all’s not exactly well in the dream land of Microsoft. It appears that the Touch Cover and Type Cover are beginning to peel apart at seams and the news comes fresh after another rumor say that there were problems with unintended audio muting.

The Touch Cover’s users have been noticing that some of its flexible elements are opening up and splitting, instead of bending normally. One user took the time to speak with a Microsoft store employee and he was told that this is a pretty frequent problem and the store already had two returns so far. Well, the good news is that Microsoft is accepting exchanges, while the bad news is that the image of the Surface is taking a hit. After all you expect quality from the build of a $100 worth accessory.

As usual with every famous product, the first days or weeks after its release are filled with glitches and problems that mysterious go away after a month or two. Remember when the Nexus 7 screen panel was moving? Or when the screen had a strange haze on it? Or when the iPhone 5 had scuff problems? Or when the HTC One S had cracks? They’re all mysteriously gone…
