Just as Apple was announcing its latest iPads, Microsoft debuted its new Surface tablets in store. I’m talking about the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2, that will be available at Microsoft retail stores and at MicrosoftStore.com, plus select retailers.
This applies to 21 initial markets, including USA. Surface 2 is the follow-up to the Surface RT and it’s a Windows RT tablet with an updated software and Office Home & Student 13 RT on board, with PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook included. The device packs a 10.6 inch ClearType Full HD display, a kickstand, a 3.5 MP front camera and a 5 megapixel rear camera.
Both cameras are capable of 1080p video capture and come with improved low light abilities. Surface Pro 2 packs a 10 point touchscreen with pen technology and enterprise security is available on it. It has 4/8 GB of RAM and storage going up to 512 GB in SSD, plus the latest Intel CPU. Both models come with special offers from Skype and SkyDrive, that include free Skype calling in over 60 countries for one year and 200 GB of free SkyDrive for 2 years.
