It appears that various Asian device makers were not shy when it came to exhibiting iPad Mini clones at Computex 2013. One of them was the Speedup Pad, that’s shown below in all its splendor.
The device comes from Indonesia apparently and it’s basically a revamped iPad Mini with Android. It’s an 8 inch slate with an aluminum chassis, combined with polycarbonate and glass. The device is available in black or white and measures 7.9 mm in thickness, while weighing 300 grams, so it’s pretty compact. The screen on board is an IPS LG panel with a 7.85 inch diagonal and 1024 x768 pixel resolution.
The processor is a strange choice here, so instead of Mediatek, Rockchip or Allwinner we’ve got a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200, a Cortex A5 1.2 GHz unit with Adreno 203 GPU. Speedup Pad also comes with 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a front 2 MP webcam and a back 5 MP camera, as well as WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 and eve GPS and 3G make the cut. Android 4.2 gets a proprietary launcher here and this product is priced at about 249 euro, that should get you a better Nexus 7 2, if you wait long enough…
