Japanese carrier au has started providing the software update for the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, that takes it to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The slate has been around for some time now, but it hasn’t been forgotten.
The codename of the model meant for this update is Xperia Z2 Tablet SOT21. Changes brought by the update include the multitasking carousel, Material Design UI and performance enhancements. The device also gets the “au share link” feature, once the power button gets a long press, linking smartphone and tablet notifications.
The update will take about 40 minutes to perform completely either via WiFi or 4G, or 80 minutes via 3G. It’s 40 minutes if performed via a PC USB connection. The software package here is around 800 MB via the OTA method and about 1.5 GB in the PC mode. The new build is codenamed “23.1.G.2.151”.
