Today’s Samsung Premiere 2013 event brought us a bunch of very interesting tablets and notebooks, plus a AiO system, all of them from the Ativ series. The event was more about the devices we knew of, as far as Android goes, but on the Windows 8 side it was all novelty.
Samsung Ativ Tab 3 came first, with the thinnest chassis among all the Windows 8 slates in the world, at 8.2 mm. This product weighs 550 grams and it packs a 10 inch display with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. Under the hood we’ve got an Intel Atom Z2760 processor, plus 2 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. The device uses a HD webcam and its battery is supposed to provide 10 hours of usage.
This model has special Windows 8 features integrated with the S Pen and finally there’s a micro HDMI port on board. Next up is the Samsung Ativ Q, a hybrid that has a tablet turn into a notebook and viceversa. The device runs Windows 8 and Android 4.2.2 and this model is quite the giant, weighing 1.29 kilograms and measuring 13.9 mm in thickness.
We also get an USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 as well, micro HDMI, an SD card slot and HP/Mic. Specs include 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 4th gen Intel Core i5 processor and Intel HD 4400 graphics, 128 GB of SSD storage and a very, very impressive 13inch display. The impressive part is the huge resolution: 3200 x 1800 pixels.
Moving to even bigger things, the Samsung Ativ Book 9 notebook comes in two versions: plus and Lite. The devices rely on 13 inch displays, they pack Ethernet ports and the Plus model uses an Intel Core i5 CPU, while the Lite model uses an AMD A6 quad core chipset. There’s also 4 GB of RAM and 128 of SSD on the Plus unit.
As far as the All in One model goes, this is the Samsung Ativ One 5 Style, that uses the same quad core AMD A6 processor of the Lite Ativ Book 9. Its design is metallic, inspired by the Galaxy lineup and it’s also very thin and all white. We’ve got a 21.5 inch display here with Full HD resolution, two USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI in and out and a card reader.
There’s no price for either one of these models, but I have a feeling we’ll get to know the prices in a few days.
