Samsung laptop shown in a promotional-style image

A newly spotted Samsung laptop benchmark suggests Android may soon reach another premium portable PC. The unannounced XE940XSA appears in Geekbench running Android 17 with 16GB of RAM and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite—a combination that would put it well above the entry-level end of the laptop market.

The listing is an early indication rather than a product announcement, but the hardware details are notable. Geekbench 7.1 reports 2,513 single-core points and 15,214 multi-core points. Its processor is listed with 12 cores, including four clocked at 3.42GHz and eight at 4.01GHz, alongside an Adreno X1-85 GPU. Those specifications appear consistent with the Snapdragon X Elite X1E-80-100.

  • Snapdragon X Elite processor with 12 CPU cores
  • Adreno X1-85 GPU
  • 16GB of RAM
  • Android 17
  • Geekbench 7.1 scores of 2,513 single-core and 15,214 multi-core

Android is confirmed, but the laptop platform is not

The benchmark does not identify the software layer on top of Android 17. That leaves two plausible paths. Samsung could be preparing its first Googlebook, a category Google launched with Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Or XE940XSA could instead be part of Samsung’s previously reported Galaxy Book effort built around Android 17 and One UI 9.

The distinction could shape how the device fits into a mobile workflow. Googlebook OS is described as an Android-based desktop platform that also retains desktop components developed around ChromeOS. Samsung’s alternative, according to an earlier SamMobile report, would pair Android 17 and One UI 9 with Galaxy AI and a more capable version of DeX for larger-screen work.

Samsung has already used Snapdragon X Elite in a laptop: the 2024 Galaxy Book4 Edge. The more consequential clue in this leak is therefore Android 17. A Samsung-designed Android laptop could potentially place Galaxy phone integration, DeX, Galaxy AI, and the company’s broader device ecosystem at the center of the experience, rather than treating them as add-ons.

A premium-class configuration with many missing details

With 16GB of memory, a Snapdragon X Elite chip, and an XE9xx-series model number, the XE940XSA looks more like a higher-tier system than a test device or budget notebook. If Samsung is developing three Android-based Galaxy Book tiers as previously reported, this model could be the top-end entry—but that positioning remains speculative.

There is disagreement over the device’s identity. SamMobile has suggested it may be Samsung’s first Googlebook, while Chrome Unboxed argues that the same evidence could fit the Android-and-One-UI Galaxy Book project already reported. Geekbench confirms neither Googlebook branding nor One UI, so it cannot resolve the question.

Samsung has not announced XE940XSA, and its retail name, display size, storage options, price, release date, and U.S. availability are all unknown. For now, the listing matters most as evidence that Samsung is testing a capable Android laptop platform—one that could appeal to users seeking a more direct bridge between a Galaxy phone, tablet-style apps, and a full-size portable computer.
