If you own one of the most powerful Samsung tablets launched over the past few years, today may be a big day for you. The Galaxy Tab S4 just got updated to Android 10 and now it’s the turn of the Galaxy Tab S5e to get the same treatment. It gets both Android 10 and One UI 2.1, plus the June 2020 Security Patch. We have details below. We also unboxed the tablet here.

The slimmest tablet in the world gets an improved Dark Mode with darkened wallpapers, plus minimalistic widgets (also darker in Dark Mode) and new animations and transitions. The gesture navigation is enhanced with the up/right/left/hold options now baked into the OS on a system level. There are also refreshed icons, colors, more emoji and a Camera app that lets you move options around. Digital Wellbeing also evolves, with new features and data, while the Gallery app gains a ton of new photo and video editing features.

Accessibility functions also get upgraded with stuff like high contrast and hearing aids. Apps like Calculator, Samsung Health, Samsung Notes and Samsung Internet will need to be updated separately via the Galaxy Apps Store. The OTA update is seeding out right now in the UK, at least. The SM-T725 model is getting the update first it seems. You should also get Music Share, Quick Share and also replace the Bixby aggregator on the leftmost homescreen with the Samsung Daily window.

It takes up 2 GB of storage and should be easily found in Settings/Software Update. You can also download the firmware from here and flash it manually, if you know what you’re doing.
