Samsung has just announced a new color option for the ATIV Smart PC for its home market of South Korea. The device is priced at $1026, after conversion of the 1,090,000 Won local price tag. The original version of the slate was available in blue and now we also get this pure white version.
The Ativ Smart PC keeps the specs of the original model, with full Windows 8 OS, a 11.6 inch HD display, 2 GB of RAM, an Intel Atom processor and 64 GB of flash storage. There’s also S Pen support and I must mention that last I heard, the Samsung Ativ Smart PC was not getting a very wide international release, being limited to some markets. It supports a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, it has a microSD card slot and the keyboard dock offers an extra two USB 2.0 ports and a power connector.
The ticker of the device is an Intel Atom Z2760 processor, meant for very low power applications. The battery inside the Ativ Smart PC is a 30 Whr unit, that should provide a very good 13 hours of functioning time, at least on paper. Tests have shown that the real battery life is about 9 to 10 hours. Kind of pricey for such a device, don’t you think?
