ReMarkable has made a pretty solid name for itself with the two ReMarkable tablets under its belt and now it’s tackling accessories. The company has just unveiled a $199 Type Folio keyboard tailor made for its $299 E Ink tablet.
The reMarkable 2 is a $299 E Ink tablet designed to offer a paper-like reading and also writing experience. That happens thanks to a 10.3 inch greyscale display, which supports a pressure sensitive pen. Some people also want regular typing though and for them we have the brand new keyboard accessory. It’s sold separately, for $199, which pretty much puts it on par with accessories from Apple.
It’s still pretty steep when compared to the cost of the reMarkable 2 itself. By the way, the ReMarkable pens are sold separately, for $79. The Type Folio is the first keyboard officially supported by the ReMarkable 2 and it’s designed specifically for the tablet. It connects via magnets to the slate and can be adjusted in two positions: a traditional typing stance or a near flat position, which also aids with the handwriting.
The device doesn’t have batteries and it doesn’t need to be charged or wirelessly paired with the slate. This keyboard has a 1.3 mm key travel, supports six language layouts (US English, UK English, German, Spanish, French, Nordic) and it’s available in Ink Black and Sepia Brown colors. It comes with artificial leather on the outside and it weighs 453 grams.
The tablet has a 1.2 GHz dual core CPU, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage and an E Ink Carta display.
