Panasonic’s Toughpad series doesn’t only include tablets, but also rugged handsets, like the Toughpad FZ-E1, that got certified recently for sale on the USA market. This one is both a rugged phone and one that does LTE Category 4, meaning it can reach up to 150 Mbps in download speed.
The GCF certified it for sale and as you can see in the picture above, it’s quite a massive machine and the OS is more business and productivity oriented. We’re dealing with Windows Embedded 8 Handheld here and the FZ-E1 specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, clocked at 2.3 GHz, plus a high contrast 5 inch screen, with very high contrast, so it can be used outdoors without problems.
The 5 inch screen offers only a 720p resolution and other specs include an 8 megapixel main camera a 1.3 MP front CMOS cam, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi dual band and 2 GB of RAM. There’s also 32 GB of storage, a 6200 mAh battery and a bulky case resilient to shocks and drops. Expect a larger than average price for this unit, when it comes to the States.
