OLPC chairman Nicholas Negroponte did an interview with MIT Media Lab recently, using the opportunity to announce that it won’t be showing off the new XO-3 tablet at CES 2011. Apparently, the device will be delayed 45 days, as the company searches for an unbreakable material, most likely one needed to make the display.
The material hasn’t been chosen yet, but it seems it might be plastic or some type of hardened glass, like the famous Gorilla Glass that’s so popular on tablets and handsets lately. Here’s the announcement of the delay, on video:
