Since I got to play with the ASUS VivoTab Note 8 slate, with Windows 8, I also played a game on it. It’s the title Star Wars Assault Team, that gets reviewed in the video below. This is a free game, an atypical card-based title with a lot of combat and some 3D action in the mix.

Star Wars Assault Team comes straight out of Lucas Arts and it features all the famous original characters from the Star Wars movies. Han Solo is also here and it all starts by escaping the Star Destroyer. You have to gather companions, like R2D2 and Chewbacca and fight the stormtroopers. The combat is turn based and all characters have special abilities they can unleash.

You can tap to attack and use items to evolve your heroes. Character affinities are available here and 3D models are included in the gameplay. You have to do a bit of grinding to evolve decently, otherwise you’ll lose a lot of battles. You can also replay previous missions with a higher level of difficulty and I should say that the missions are rather short.

This a freemium title and you’ll sometimes feel the need to buy stuff, especially when you run out of health fast in battles. Missions cost energy to play, yet another freemium aspect. There are promotion missions that help you to evolve and there’s also a PvP multiplayer aspect detailed in the video review. The game has its shortcomings, but you can enjoy it, if you’re a Star Wars fan.

We give it an 8.7 out of 10. You can download it here.
