Rumours about the future iPad have already started popping up, with the next version being speculated to have a bunch of versions, with 5.6 and 7 inch diagonals. Apparently, the display on the new Apple slates will be an OLED, providing much higher contrast than LEDs and using less power. Also, such screens provide great color saturation, even surpassing the Retina Display on the iPhone 4.
There’s a slight drawback to this thing: even if the screen is completely black and the device is idle, an OLED display tends to have a slightly shining backlight, so an iPad 2 can ruin your sleep, if you prefer pitch black rooms. We’re hoping that switching to OLED is not the only improvement on the new iPad…
