The Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 got the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update about a month ago and now it’s the turn of the older Nvidia Shield Tablet to get it. We’re actually talking about Android 6.0.1, that just came to this model.

It also includes the Android security patch from March and the release notes mention that we’re actually dealing with the same software package that graced the Shield Tablet K1 4 weeks ago. One must manually check if the update is available by going to the “Settings” section on the slate. As usual, this update brings a ton of bug fixes, plus novelties.

We get Google Now on Tap, a new Nvidia Shield Camera UI, improved app permissions, fixed crashes, adaptable storage (microSD can be seen as internal memory) and improved battery usage via the Doze feature. Last time the Shield Tablet was updated was at the beginning of the year, so it’s been a while.
