The Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 still remains one of the best gaming tablets out there, at least till the Nintendo Switch arrives. Today we learn that the device is bound to get an Android 7.0 Nougat update these days.
Owners of the device are finally going to get the improvements they’ve been waiting for, like the enhanced Doze mode, improved notifications area and split screen multitasking. Better quick toggles are here, we also get new emoji and of course a performance boost should come too. Nvidia also included updated Shield controller support, the Shield rewards program and December security patches.
We did expect a newer security patch, but that’ll probably come a bit later. The last big update of this slate came last year, to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it also brought some issues with the WiFi, so hopefully none of that will happen here. Ill remind you that this gaming device comes with a Tegra K1 quad core processor, 16 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM and a 5 MP back camera with autofocus.
