Nvidia has been releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for its Shield Tablet models over the past days, but now they’ve turned it off. The reason? Something went wrong and that something is reported to be the loss of WiFi connectivity after installing the update.
That’s not the first time Nvidia has broken something with an update and it happens to the best it seems, since Microsoft also had a troublesome update for its Surface products a while ago. Nvidia claims they’ve temporarily stopped the OTA update till they figure out why select user lost WiFi connection after updating their tablet to OTA 4.0.
They advise those with such problems to reboot the tablet 2 or 3 times and if this fails, they advise them to do the power cycle 3 or 4 times (not reboot, but complete power off). If this also doesn’t work, then you need to charge the tablet to 100% and try again, factory reset the device and that’s all you can do. The last piece of advice they give is simply leaving the tablet powered off for a few hours and turning it back on.
If none of these works you need to send a screenshot of the Advanced WiFi page on your tablet to driverfeedback@nvidia.com
