Android 7.0 Nougat debuted on compatible devices about 3 weeks ago and there are still some Nexus models that have yet to receive it. People have been complaining in the meantime about the lack of factory images or OTA ones for the Nexus 6 or for the Nexus 9 LTE. Today we have news about those products.
Google has confirmed that the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE will be getting the Nougat taste over the following weeks. There’s no exact time frame, but we may see a release right after the Pixel phones are made official. No idea why it’s taking so long, but there may be bugs to squash and stuff to tweak for the Nexus 9, not exactly your typical tablet.
There’s still the alternative of Android N Developer Preview, achieved by registering here. Android Nougat brings 250 new features, including expanded emoji set, new Quick Settings menu, native multi window mode, direct reply in notifications and quick switch.
There’s also Doze on the go for a more efficient battery, plus improved gaming courtesy of Vulkan and Daydream.
