The Google I/O 2014 event is coming in a few weeks and with it may come a new Android and also a new Nexus tablet. That may be the Nexus 8 aka Flounder aka the HTC Nexus tablet. Well, rumors are saying that Google may be ready to ditch Qualcomm in favour of Intel for this device.
The Nexus 8 may arrive with an Intel Moorefield processor, making this a beast of a slate, especially in the gaming field. The Moorefield chip is still a bit of a mystery in certain circles, but this unit is more powerful than Intel’s Merrifield SoC, so that’s got to count for something. If we compare the Merrifield chip with the Snapdragon 800 and the Apple A7, we can actually see the Moorefield beating those rivals.
The graph below speaks volumes about the power of the new chipset, that should be a total monster in games. This makes us wonder why Nvidia even bothers to compete in this segment, since the likes of Intel and Qualcomm are a breath away from taking all the market from them…
